Ponmudi is a hill station in Thiruvananthapuram district, which is 61 kilometers from the city center. It makes Ponmudi the nearest hill station to the capital of Kerala. The hill station is perched at an altitude of 1,100 meters.

It is a perfect hill station for the busy city professionals who want to leave the hustle bustle of the city behind and hide into the lush green lap of nature. It has several rivulets and rapids, which when surrounded by green hills, look majestic. So does the golden valley when looked from a vantage point.

1868 meter high Agasthyarkoodam Peak and Meenmutty Fall are two of the major tourist attractions in the region. The peak is famous for its wildlife. One cannot visit Agasthyarkoodam peak without securing prior written permission from the forest department. The hill station is also highly regarded for trekking. One of its most famous peaks, Motta peak, is quite known for trekking.

The lush green forest of Ponmudi will make any heart skip a beat or two, and the exotic smell of cardamom and tea, just out of the town, can drive any sane man crazy (read ecstatic). The hill station is quite welcoming. It has a year-round temperate climate, so there is not any “more suitable season” to visit, or any “less suitable season” to visit this place. To reach Ponmudi, you will need to come through either Trivandrum International Airport, which is the nearest airport, or through Trivandrum Central, the nearest railway station. KSTRC buses also run frequently from Thiruvananthapuram.
